A 5-piece original blend of traditional and modern country sounds with sonic influences ranging from Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, to the Allman Brothers and Sturgill Simpson.
This coast to coast band was formed by the unlikely convergence between Blake English from Southern Georgia and Tori Lund from Los Angeles who met playing music in a church and began collaborating with a shared love of country music. Three years later they emerged from the studio with a slew of self-written, recorded and produced songs with intentions to shop them to other artists. However, they soon realized they weren’t willing to part with their babies and instead joined forces with bassist Ryan Posner, drummer Miguel Lyons-Cavazos, and pedal steel player Bob Bernstein who has played with a notable list of country and roots artists including Tanya Tucker, Emmylou Harris and Dwight Yoakam. He has also worked with the likes of Hans Zimmer and was the featured pedal steel player on the Academy Award Winning Score for Brokeback Mountain.
Tori, a classically trained singer and yoga teacher is a misplaced country girl at heart. She grew up playing her family’s piano and quickly picked up the guitar. As an avid reader and creative writer, songwriting is her passion and comes instinctually. Penning the majority of FMS’ lyrics and budding catchy melodies with Blake, the two have an undeniable chemistry. Blake comes from a family of guitar players and songwriters. Rock, pop, country and rhythm & blues form his musical foundation. He signed his first publishing deal upon moving to LA in 2000 and has since worked in his studio as a writer, producer and engineer. His credits include Toni Braxton, George Benson and a Grammy nominated album by Brandy. Tired of the publishing rat race he decided to return to his country roots and play live music.
Southpaw bassist, Ryan, has lived and played music in Los Angeles for most of his life. Though bass is his first love, he’s a multi-instrumentalist who also plays mandolin, guitar, piano and drums. A bona-fide Texan, Miguel, is a song drummer, percussion enthusiast and walking encyclopedia of music trivia. He has performed with the best Brazilian escolas (drumlines) and recorded 5 albums with the Portland based Alt-Country band Shoebox Letters.
