Enjoy a special evening opening with a talk by Jivananda dasa Vanacari speaking on the basic philosophies of Hinduism, followed by the documentary film, "One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das". Jivananda das has been practicing Bhakti Yoga (devotional Yoga) for over 35 years. He has traveled extensively lecturing and sharing his experiences and realizations to audiences all over the world. In the early 1970's he became a personal disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. He has dedicated his entire life to spreading the message of his beloved guru, continuing the ancient and most revered sect of Eastern religion and philosophy. The essence of his teachings focus on the elevation of the consciousness in connection with the divine and puts us in personal contact with an eternal reality of bliss and knowledge inherent within the soul. Jivananda das will also host a Q&A discussion after the film.
The film, "One Track Heart", is the story of Jeffrey Kagel (Krishna Das) who in 1970 walked away from the American dream of rock 'n' roll stardom, turning down the chance to record as lead singer for the band soon-to-be the Blue Oyster Cult. Instead, he sold all his possessions and moved from the suburbs of Long Island to the foothills of the Himalayas in search of happiness and a little-known saint named Neem Karoli Baba. The film follows his journey to India and back, witnessing his struggles with depression and drug abuse, to his eventual emergence as Krishna Das, world-renowned spiritual teacher and Grammy nominated chant master.
Featuring interviews with Ram Dass, Rick Rubin (Grammy Award winning Producer), Sharon Salzberg (NY Times bestselling author), Daniel Goleman (two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee), and many others.
