Cassie Popeski questions both the short and long term effects of the experience of peer loss at a young age in her solo exhibition, Fragmented. The show features a mixed media body of work that focuses on the anonymous responses from individuals surveyed on various aspects of loss. Each piece utilizes distinctive objects and textures in order to elicit differing visceral emotions to the expressive typography. In doing so, one experiences the strong connection between message, form, material, and meaning.
Cassie Popeski currently studies graphic design at the University of Arizona School of Art. Since studying at the university, Popeski has become increasingly interested in how typography interacts with and affects a composition’s message. She creates engaging designs with a personal quality by incorporating digital type and art with hand lettering, textural elements, as well as painting, photography and drawing. Cassie Popeski will receive her Bachelors of Fine Arts in graphic design in the fall of 2015.
